Filipino’s are Resilient

The Resiliency of a Filipino

by William G. Bacani

Filipino is resilient

Since time immemorial, we are tested by countless calamities; volcanic eruptions, devastating earthquakes and lahar flows, super typhoons, flash floods and landslides.

Victoriously, we surmounted these ordeals and pains, beyond imagination of the human race

Instant death of our loved ones, claimed by transportation mishaps and natural disasters. Thousands also die in hunger and malnutrition.

Including ambushes and endless wars in Mindanao. They trampled our basic human rights, such as the right to live

G (solo) : I lost my loving husband, who didn’t want to join Abu Sayyaf.

G (solo) : I lost my only son, who opted to become a military man.

G : We lost our innocent children and women, we lost our homes and properties.

Survivors are Filipinos. The wrath of nature and cruel destiny may steal everything from us.

Wealth, properties, and family

But the Filipinos never give up

For us we are continuously scourged by the test of time. The spirit to survive and to bounce back remains undefeated

Together, we can face any challenge ahead of us.

We may stumble and fall But we will bounce back, arms stronger with vision and faith, that after darkness, after pains and sufferings, the Filipino survives, the Filipino is resilient.

Filipinoes are known as brave and resilient individuals. We are encountering countless disasters every now and then. We are losing our loved ones because of those disasters but we never forgot to smile and continue living. We just consider those disasters as test of time and turn it to an inspiration to live and make every heartaches and grieves into a strength which dignifies us.

One evidence is when Typhoon Yolanda struck last November 2013. Each and every Filipino is helping each other just to get back on their feet. They all did their best to bounce back and fight against the cruel destiny.  They remain faithful, creative, and family-oriented and jolly despite of that cruel disaster.

Despite of an endless pain and grieve during Typhoon Yolanda, each and every one never forget to talk to God Almighty. They lost everything they had even their loved ones but many still carry the symbol of their faith and belief that is acceptable on their religion; like bibles and sculpture of Saints. They did continue to search for a new life and journey while hugging and valuing those.

Being creative has embodied by every Filipino. They were able to build a new house from those scratch that Yolanda left. They were able to turn that piece and broken galvanize iron and woods into a home that helped them survive that cold environment. This piece where they put their remaining loved ones and the new family they found. They did not bother those cruelties because of their family. Even those who lost their loved ones and family were able to found a new one and pray for souls of their loved ones who are located in an eternal place after they left the world.

After those tears and heart aches every Filipinos managed to smile and continues the life that waits them ahead. They were able to rebuild those broken homes and structures as well as themselves with a sweet smile on their faces which turns into a sound laughter as time goes by. They were able to bounce back together after falling and enjoy each day of rebuilding.
